Since 2015, Melker of Sweden has been through the initiative Paddle for Musikhjälpen raised money for the benefit of Swedish Radio, SVT and Radio Aid's charity project Musikhjälpen.
Previously, the initiative has, among other things, paddled all the way from Stockholm to the glass cage and along the way served food on the town squares they passed on the way.
In 2021, they will be at Paddla in Pampas @ Pampas marina in Stockholm and this year's challenge is to keep (at least) two kayaks in motion around Kungsholmen, around the clock during the 144 hours that the presenters broadcast live!
To this end, the public is encouraged to help and keep the kayaks in motion - and the paddle tour can already be booked at paddlaformusikhjalpen.se
A paddle lap around Kungsholmen takes about two hours and costs SEK 100 and for SEK 300 the paddler also gets food and space in the warming sauna. All equipment for winter kayaking is of course included, from dry suits and kayaks to knowledgeable instructors and guides. The money collected goes in full to Musikhjälpen and this year's theme - for a world without child labor!
With Paddla in the Pampas as a base, various events are also arranged, around the clock throughout the Music Aid Week. At Paddla in the Pampas, it is also possible to buy food and drink for frozen paddlers or passers-by. All for the benefit of Musikhjälpen!
The initiative starts with a joint Lucia paddling during the evening of 13 December and on Saturday 18 December, a trial of paddling is also arranged for those who have never tried winter paddling before.
